Building a Water Resilient Future
The Pacific Institute’s mission - to create and advance solutions to the world’s most pressing water challenges - is more vital now than ever. Water is one of our most precious and valuable natural resources. Yet, more than two million Americans, and hundreds of millions of people around the world do not have access to safe drinking water, and billions lack reliable and safe sanitation. The lack of water and sanitation threatens global health and economic prosperity, a fact that has become more evident in the face of the coronavirus pandemic.
Despite the importance of water, we are over-exploiting and degrading it at an alarming rate due to unsustainable growth and development, massive pollution, and reliance on antiquated water systems. Global warming is exacerbating these challenges as rising greenhouse gas concentrations are causing large-scale changes to the Earth’s climate. Key climate impacts include increases in temperatures and rising sea levels, and significant changes in precipitation patterns as well as the frequency and intensity of extreme weather events like droughts, floods, and wildfires.
A world without water seems unimaginable. We agree, and for over 30 years the Pacific Institute has worked tirelessly to create and advance solutions to the world’s most pressing water challenges. Together, with your support, we can protect water and advance solutions for a sustainable planet with clean, safe, and affordable water for humans and ecosystems. Join us today to help build a water resilient future. Thank You!
